Iniciado dentro do Projeto Intercâmbio Cultural da Linha Imaginária, Minha terra, Sua Terra realiza o deslocamento de alguns quilos de terra de Porto Alegre, cidade onde o artista morava, para outras cidades. O trabalho já foi apresentado em São Paulo, Salvador, Belém, Florianópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Caracas e Belo Horizonte, e a quantidade transportada variou para cada cidade. Nos espaços de exposição, a terra era oferecida aos visitantes em saquinhos de aproximadamente 100 gramas.

Trazendo a pesquisa do site-specific para a literalidade do espaço geográfico, o transporte de terra de um território geopolítico para outro (e sua posterior doação ao público de uma exposição) borra as noções de fronteira, ao esvaziar a identidade supostamente instrínseca da terra. Fica evidente, assim, a linha imaginária que separa a sua terra da minha, meu lugar e o seu.

Proposed for a series of exhibitions that happened throughout Brazil in the project I was invited to called Imaginary Line: Cultural Exchange, My Land, Your Land moved a portion of earth from Porto Alegre/Brazil (30S; 51W), where the artist lived at the time, to other cities that hosted the shows from the program. It was presented in São Paulo, Salvador, Belém and Florianópolis. The amount of dirt transported varied from city to city. In the exhibition spaces, it was offered as a gift to the visitors in small plastic bags of approximately 100 grams, totaling 70kg, the artist’s weight. The work also took place in Caracas, Venezuela, during the Bienal do Barro [2001], where the land that was distributed was from a hole dug in the museum, as transporting dirt between different countries is ilegal.

In Portuguese, the word ‘terra’ means earth, land or dirt. Bringing the research on site-specificity to the literality of geographical space, the transport of dirt from a geopolitical territory to another (and its subsequent donation to the participants in an exhibition) blurs our notions of border, land use and property by emptying its supposedly intrinsic identity.
